Imitrex
With
18 years of first hand experience suffering through migraines,
this logo was created as a personal hats-off to the wonderful people
at GlaxoSmithKline. Patients who experience severe migraines with
all the classic symptoms have a deep fear of the visual disturbances
that signal the start of the living hell known as the migraine
headache. Migraine sufferers form a direct association between
their visual symptoms and the throbbing pain and nausea that make
migraines so unbearable. In fact, simply describing their visual
symptoms can cause them nausea. A small blank spot in the patient's
vision is the first indicator that a migraine is coming, followed
by increasingly severe vibrating fault lines ripping across the
patients view. Once the migraine has taken hold, not only is the
patient's vision severely impaired, but the patient also develops
a strong aversion to light. During a migraine patient's want desperately
to isolate themselves in a dark room and sleep through the pain.
The
return of the patient's sight is the first indicator that Imitrex
is working. Once the migraine has passed, the patient no longer
feels threatened by light and is free to open their eyes and face
the world pain-free. This logo represents that moment once Imitrex
has stopped the migraine, when the patient opens his eyes to welcome
the light in.
This logo demonstrates a true understanding
of what a migraine sufferer goes through. By demonstrating this understanding,
the logo helps convince
the patient that Imitrex is a drug specifically made to fight migraine
headaches as apposed to other drugs that are made for any headaches and
thus less effective toward migraines.
